Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Hindu Society of Saskatchewan will be held online on Friday, April 30th 2021, at 6.30 PM for the purpose of:
- Receiving and considering the annual report and financial statements for the year ended on 31st December 2020 and the report of the auditors thereon
- Electing Board Members for 2021-22/23
- Appointing auditor for the year 2021
- Transacting such further and other business as may properly come before the meeting or any adjournment thereof.
*The meeting will be open from 5:45-6:30pm for mandatory registration of HSS members.

*HSS board has appointed a nominating committee according to Article X, section 1.0 of HSS by-laws. The members of this committee are Dr. Nawal Sharma, Chair (306-242-6979; Email: [email protected]), Dr. Kulwant Rai (306-241-2003; Email: [email protected]) and Mrs. Alka Yadav (306-202-9221; [email protected]). To conduct the elections in an impartial and proper manner (Article X, section 2.3 of HSS by-laws) the board has appointed Kishore Gali as an Election officer.

Important Request from the Nomination committee
On behalf of the nomination committee appointed by the HSS board, we would like to call upon you to put forward names of the deserving candidates for the vacant position for the HSS board 2021-22/23. Please find attached a copy of the HSS Bylaws. This is an urgent matter and we would appreciate your earliest attention. To serve as a HSS Board member is a great opportunity to offer an honorable volunteer service and to build relationship and networking to strengthen the community. HSS is an important community organization, which brings great pride and honor to the whole community. Contribution and involvement of the community members is the key to its proper functioning. Please come forward to commit some time and service to this noble cause.
Please contact one of us to know the available vacant positions. The time for submission of nominations has ended, however the vacant positions will be open for nominations on the floor.

HSS 35th Annual Vegetarian Banquet
HSS 35th vegetarian annual banquet was celebrated on 24th April 2021. An amazing virtual event was organized and enjoyed by the participants. More than 300 individuals from North Battle ford and Prince Albert participated in the banquet.
HSS president Mrs. Leela Sharma welcomed special guests and all attendees. Jaya Muzumdar ji of Chinmaya mission delivered the keynote address on the relevance of Sanatana Dharma in modern times. His Excellency Mr. Ajay Bisaria, High Commissioner of India in Canada, consul general Mr. Manish, His worship Mr. Charlie Clark, Mayor of Saskatoon, participated in the event. The High Commissioner acknowledged the contributions of HSS to spread Hindu cultural values and the support provided to the Indian community in Saskatoon area.
Rohini Mohan Nag Award for exceptional community service was awarded to Dr. Lalita Malhotra for 2019 and to Mr. Krishna Kishore Gali for 2020 for their continuous support for the community. Mr. Subash Koneru and Mr. Kalyana Venkataraman were recognized as outstanding volunteers.
Mudra School of Dance performed four beautiful classical dance items. Food was prepared and delivered by Black Pepper Restaurant to all the participants at their homes.
Mrs. Leela Sharma appreciated all the members for their commitment towards our temple during the COVID period, and its role as a community centre. She acknowledged HSS volunteers Mr. Bala Muthuswamy, Mr. Suresh Kalagnanam, Ms. Kiran Kalia and Ms. Rajesh Saxena. Mrs. Mythili Venkataraman acknowledged all the volunteers who contributed to temple activities and banquet event.
Last year the 35th anniversary committee was formed to publish the 35th Anniversary booklet which to be distributed at the banquet. Because of the COVID pandemic the banquet was cancelled. The magazine is available at the temple, please visit temple and receive a copy of the magazine.
